Grace: Stay In Your Lane - Pastors Geri & Ashley
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode, we dive deep into what it really means to walk in the grace of God as His child—not the watered‑down version, but the kind of grace that empowers, strengthens, and positions you for the calling on your life.
We talk about how grace isn’t just God overlooking your flaws; it’s God filling your weakness with His power. You’ll hear why surrender is not losing control but gaining access to supernatural strength, and how your moments of weakness are often the very places where God’s power shows up the strongest.
We also confront one of the biggest threats to your calling: comparison.
When you start looking at someone else’s ministry, anointing, or platform, you can drift out of your God‑assigned lane and step into something you were never graced to carry. We unpack how comparison leads to striving, burnout, and spiritual frustration—and how staying in your lane keeps you aligned with the grace that was tailor‑made for you.
This episode will help you:
• Understand grace as divine empowerment
• Embrace weakness as the doorway to God’s strength
• Recognize when comparison is pulling you off assignment
• Stay rooted in the lane where your grace, authority, and fruit actually are
If you’ve ever felt pressure to be like someone else, or wondered why certain things feel heavy while others feel effortless, this conversation will bring clarity, freedom, and fresh confidence in who God called you to be.
Hey everybody, welcome back to the Say That Again podcast. This is Hetty and my beautiful wife Ashley is here. Hey guys, we're so excited. Episode five. And man, we're ready to kick this off.
SPEAKER_01Episode five, you guys got us again. But we're so excited for this next episode. Um, truly, this is we're gonna be talking about something that's been firmly just it's firmly gripped my heart and it's been in my mind, and I'm really excited. Last episode, if you didn't hear it, please go listen to that. It's very important. We talked about putting on Christ and what it looks like to become like Jesus, and it's it was it was an amazing episode. I actually went back to listen as well, and um, it was just so awesome. So, Pastor Hetty, what are we getting into today?
SPEAKER_00Today we're gonna talk about one of my favorite topics. Believe it or not, is not as talked as much as I heard it before, but we're gonna talk about grace today. A lot of people have a misconception of grace, yes, still. Um, there's been a lot of better teaching on it, but we're gonna talk about grace. Um we're just gonna use it in a way to really help form the identity of the believer as sons and daughters of God, because every son and daughter of Jesus, the Father, has access to a grace, amen. And it's this ability for us to live out our identity in Him and also our assignment on earth.
SPEAKER_01Amen. Yeah. So often I think if you heard just heard the word grace, you your first thing that came to mind was probably grace for our sins and uh, you know, grace and mercy, and that's yes, while that's true, there is such a deeper um revelation of grace that the Lord intends for us to really understand that is so deeply rooted in his love for us, and yeah, I just I already want to go in on this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I just want to give some, I guess, some personal definitions of what I think grace is, and maybe you can give me what you think is because grace is very dynamic, yeah, so many meanings, but I believe that grace is God empowering you to live the life that He designed for you, and it's also the divine strength for your calling, wow, is the empowerment for you to fulfill your assignment on earth.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Ooh, that's good. I love both of those. Um yeah, for me, I would say grace really is where my inability meets his ability. And it's also, you know, it's what you said, it's his empowering presence to accomplish what we can't accomplish on our own. It's where we yield and his power comes in and overrides our strength. You know, it's where we really truly see where um Christ's strength is perfected in our weakness, you know, we see grace come alive there. And so, yeah.
SPEAKER_00We're coming in hot.
SPEAKER_01Man, I love because I think for me, I've had such a huge um revelation in the last two years of grace because not just because I've needed it, but because his grace met me in a powerful way when I wasn't even living a life, you know, quote unquote up to par or like living this super on fire life. He met me, and it's not that I was praying for or asking for it, but it's it was his grace that came in in my weakness where he was like, This girl needs me, and I didn't even realize how dry and lukewarm I was.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. I think a lot of times people see grace as an excuse to live in sin. But we're gonna really tackle a different angle that grace is not an excuse to live in sin, but grace is the empowerment for you to live this godly life, this holy life, yeah, and to live this life so close to Him. This is what grace is for. And without grace, I believe that you can't live out your faith. There's really no way. Grace is a substance, grace is the fuel. And I believe that grace is not God lowering the standard or making that excuse, you know, when it comes to sin. So grace is not just forgiveness, it's fuel. Yes, grace is the fuel of your faith, grace is the fuel of everything. Yes, everything we do for Jesus is based on his empowerment because we can't do this without him. Because it's let's go back to Jesus, right? When he said it's better if I go, so I can send you the helper. Yes, I can send you the Holy Spirit. So when the Holy Spirit indwells us, he's our helper. Yes. That is, I think the perfect definition of grace is that you can't do this by yourself. No. So I'm gonna come into you. I'm gonna come in with my spirit to help you live close to me and live like me. So to think that we can do this without grace, without the Holy Spirit, it's a great error, and that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Grace is gas. You think of a car, you know? Can't run without his gas. We can't run without his enabling, we can't run without the spirit. It makes me think of um this verse that I've been actually meditating on. It's Hebrews 4.16. And it says, let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. And I just want to be vulnerable for a moment. Um, as a mom and a mom that's juggling a lot of different things, sometimes I get overwhelmed. I mean, I'm a human being. We get overwhelmed. And I felt like I was doing things out of my own strength. And I thought that that was, I didn't realize that I was doing that until I was like, man, I'm really tired. I don't feel good. You know, I feel really down. I don't, and something doesn't feel right about this. Like I'm now using my strength. I'm now using, you know, my tank, my tank, my spiritual tank is on E right now because I've been trying to, you know, I'm strong, I'm equipped, I got this. But the Lord was showing me it was actually an invitation to the throne of grace. And that throne of grace, it says that we may receive mercy and grace to help us, the helper, the Holy Spirit. God is literally saying, Hey, there's there's a place that you can come and receive my spirit where literally I will meet your inability with my fire. I'll meet your inability with my love, I'll meet your inability with my rest. You know, it's okay to be weak in me. And I really needed that. I really needed that reflection of like and reminder of man, I can't, I can't do this on my own. And and I'm grateful that God will correct us.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. I think in our humanity, you know, we go to work, go to school, yeah, have a family, and it's so easy to operate on your strength because you have to for so many things.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then you you carry that mindset over into the spiritual things, and God's like, no. Like, yes, there's a practical side where you gotta use your body right and be responsible and show up. Yeah, but when we take that mindset of like, I can work hard, I know how to get this done, and you take that mindset to the things of Jesus, right? The things of the kingdom, the kingdom's like, nope. The only way you can operate and function is through grace. So with that hard work mentality, don't get me wrong, like you still want to be hardworking for Jesus, but you have to operate through grace.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_00Because grace is the empowering, because Jesus is saying, Look, there's a protocol. I want my kingdom to operate in a specific way. Wow, and only I can do it because I'm perfect. So let me live through you and help you do it my way. Because I'm the king, I'm not the president, right? You don't I don't ask judges or congress to see if I can do something. The king of kings, whatever he says, it goes. So this is his way, but it's the most amazing way that he gets to live in us to empower us.
SPEAKER_01Wow, my gosh, that's so good. Huh. Grace is so supernatural.
SPEAKER_00I was I was just gonna say grace is a supernatural ability to do what you could never do on your own. Yeah, that's literally what grace is, and grace doesn't just cover you, it carries you. Many years ago, I did this rap song.
SPEAKER_01Well, here we go.
SPEAKER_00Can't find it.
SPEAKER_01I told y'all he he raps. I told y'all in the last episode.
SPEAKER_00But I did this bar, okay? And I even preached the whole message to it to my my youth group back in the but it was grace like an escalator. That's how grace works is you literally all you have to do is get on the escalator, and then you know how the escalator works, it just takes you up. You don't have to walk. You can be that crazy person that walks up, right? But you can just be the chip. They run up.
SPEAKER_01There's people that run up there, like me, right?
SPEAKER_00I get on the escalator. I ain't walking, it's taking me all the way up. Well, that's how grace works.
SPEAKER_01That's so good.
SPEAKER_00You just you just hop on and God will take you from point A to point B. Yeah. And even when you're failing, even when you're so consumed with your mistakes, you'll like snap out of it and you'll be like, wait, how am I in point B?
SPEAKER_01That's so good.
SPEAKER_00How is God still working in my life? Why is God still moving in my life? Because that's how grace works. Grace is not dependent on your strength, grace is not dependent on your abilities. It's dependent on God's ability.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00That's why what does the Bible say that his grace is perfected in our weakness? So weakness is the invitation for his power to manifest in our life. Thank you, Lord. On those moments where we feel so helpless and hopeless, and then God comes through, it's like, wait, how did I how am I over here now?
SPEAKER_01That's so good.
SPEAKER_00Because that's how grace operates.
SPEAKER_01Grace doesn't exhaust the natural, our flesh gets exhausted and tired, but there's a never ending power and this like push to keep going, not out of striving, but out of that that escalator ride. And honestly, I think I can still find that song because I think you were filming that on an actual escalator.
SPEAKER_00I did, I wasn't wall, yeah. But I think weakness is not disqualification, it's invitation.
SPEAKER_01Amen. That's so good.
SPEAKER_00If you ever feel weak and you feel helpless, you're literally inviting grace into your life. And sometimes God will allow you to come into that point of helplessness where you literally have to cry out, God, I can't do this. And that's all grace is waiting for. It's waiting for you to give up and surrender for it to empower you and show you that this is not by your strength, this is by his might.
SPEAKER_01Amen.
SPEAKER_00Not your might, but by his might, by his spirit, not by your will.
SPEAKER_01Wow, that is so good. When I get weak, I feel like sometimes what I will do is think, oh, I must have not prayed enough, or I must have not been as close to the Lord this week, or you know, just these lies start coming in and therefore it like gets it gets me ashamed. And I don't know if this is some of you young adults that are hearing this, but that's literally the enemy keeping you from that invitation in your weakness. Because if we can grab a hold that our weakness literally is a sign that it's a spiritual sign, like when we're weak, it's a spiritual sign that hey, you need the helper. Yes, you need the the Holy Spirit, you need his grace to come in. And the enemy loves when we're weak to get us isolated, to get us silent, to get us to not pray, to get us to not thank the Lord and to get us to not praise. Why? Because that's where there's breakthrough.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, when when we pray and we seek the Lord, that's a form of humility. And we're showing God that we need you. Yeah. So usually the enemy tries to take you out of your prayer time because if you pray, you're gonna you're gonna pray, God help me, I'm done, you know? So it's and it's also very important for us to identify those moments when we're feeling weak. And it's I mean, there's nothing better to feel the grace of God in your life and know, you know what, I'm favored because he loved me, because he chose me, and I'm staying in my lane, and God's empowering me to fulfill his assignment on earth.
SPEAKER_01Amen. To that.
SPEAKER_00And I just wanted to say is that surrender is the doorway to this supernatural grace. When you think about weakness, right? Like God, I'm so weak, I'm tired. That all of that should be the path of surrender. Because God is ultimately saying, Can you just surrender to me? Just surrender. And once we surrender, and that moment is when grace steps in. That's the whole concept of, you know, my power is made perfect in your weakness. It's like, yes, you feel most people will feel weak and then they'll bounce back and say, I got this, I can do this. And like they'll trick themselves, like, yeah, I can still figure this out for God. No. If you feel that weakness and you're hopeless, just surrender. Yeah. Just surrender it to Him. And you'll be surprised what God does. If you're dealing with the situation in your family, um, at your job, whatever it is, you just say, you know what, Lord, I give this to you. I'm done. I'm tired. I surrender it to you. Yeah. And when you do that, God will just work on your behalf. You know, He'll definitely help you out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We weren't meant to have all of the answers to everything or a solution or figure everything out on our own. And that's where we get exhausted, is when we're not um going to him and having him take control. Like he literally wants to take control of every area, not because he is controlling, but because he wants you, his his yoke is easy, his burden is light. He wants to trade those heavy places where you don't have all the answers, where you know, maybe you you're trying to decide where you want to go to college next year, or you're trying to decide if you what career path to take, or what relation, if this relationship is good, if this friendship is good, all anything, whatever it is in life, you have grace on your life. There is, and and there is there is the helper. And before we started this podcast, I got this while we were praying. I got this vision of like sitting outside, and I felt this like I wasn't gonna bring this up, but I'm bringing it up now. Um, I was sitting outside, it was like a hot day, and I don't know, you guys probably have felt this where it's hot, but there's this breeze that comes in and it just refreshes you. And you're like, okay, I can get up again and I can get back in that game and play or whatever. That I literally heard that's like my grace is that refreshing wind. It's that enabling of my spirit to accomplish what you can't do on your own, to refresh you, to to pick you up when you're tired.
SPEAKER_00So good. Amen. That's definitely how grace feels like it's like you've been working all day outside or doing working out or going for a walk or a run and you just feel that cool breeze, you know, and it's at those moments where you just feel so exhausted, or you just where you sit down and like you're just starting to rest your heart and your mind, and you just feel that you notice it. Wow, that's the whole that's like surrender, surrender and stillness. Yes, that's what the Lord wants. And when you practice a lifestyle of surrender and prayer, then you're always gonna live in the activation of grace. Ooh. You're gonna be able to tap into grace more frequently because you learn the hack is to live in surrender. Amen. That's why when you just surrender your life and everything to him, you're always gonna be empowered by him. That's that's the whole trick, that's the hack. People's like, I want God to use me. Well, surrender to him, surrender every area of your life, surrender even your sin to him. Because remember, grace is the empowerment to live a life free of sin, to live a life of holiness. When you get the Holy Spirit in you, then you have the ability to live a holy life.
SPEAKER_01Oh, preach. Say that again. Well, and it's crazy because so we want to our our our flesh wants to bypass weakness because it's uncomfortable. But I was just thinking how like the most powerful thing that's ever been done is Jesus dying on the cross and resurrecting. And if the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives within us to get access to that spirit, we have to die too. We have to die to our flesh, we have to confront our weaknesses and not be afraid of that surrender, not be afraid to, you know, lean into that weakness because that's where you're gonna encounter his power for you. Because power, power from on high that comes on us, it's not by might nor by power, but it's by his grace, his holy spirit. It's not by um gender, it's not by job title, it's not by what you do for work, where you're going to school, what you're gonna be when you get older, how many, you know, all these accolades. It's not by or you know, anything. It's not by any of those things, it's by his spirit. Yeah. And how do we access his spirit? Surrender.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. I think this whole concept, right, of weakness and surrender. Most people, it's like I will, I like I understand it, but I don't want to be a failure. So they struggle in their mind. It's you know, like, I don't want to fail God. And it's they they kind of hold on to it and they keep trying and they keep trying. Cause it's kind of it's the way that the world works is you gotta keep trying, you gotta keep going. And just because you surrender doesn't mean that you gave up on the assignment or on the purpose. You see what I'm trying to say? It's like it's not that you're you're giving that you're quitting. Surrendering is not quitting in the kingdom. No, in the world, surrendering looks like quitting, yeah. But when you in the kingdom of God and the things of Jesus, when you surrender, it's not quitting. You're actually, it's like a cheat code. Now you're allowing the grace of God to empower you to overcome. Yes, you know, you're you're getting strength from Him, you're over, you're getting the ability to overcome. So surrender in the spirit realm is not actually quitting, is you saying, God, I I can I look I can't I've owned my strength has come up to this point, and now I need you to launch me.
SPEAKER_01We don't want to wave that white that white flag of surrender, you know, but again, he moves at the speed of our surrender.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, and I just want to switch lanes here a little bit and talk about grace when it comes to living in your assignment, you know, living in your purpose and your destiny. Okay, because grace has a lane. Everybody that's listening to my voice right now, to this podcast, you have an assignment, you have a purpose in your life. Yeah, and that that means that God has equipped you with the unique grace for you to fulfill that assignment.
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_00Everybody here has it. There's no excuse, there's no well, God didn't choose me. No, God chose you and you are equipped with grace, and grace is a In specific, Ashley has a different grace than me. I have a different grace than them. Her. My children have different. You know, I can already tell. You know, my daughter's gonna be different in the spirit compared to my son.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right? We we carry unique graces.
SPEAKER_02Amen.
SPEAKER_00And when you learn and understand the grace that you have and you stay in your lane, you're always gonna live in the flow of his power. Like I've I've had this whole thing for a while now, staying in your lane. Because God's gives you grace for your calling, not someone else's.
SPEAKER_01Oh, hold on. Say that again.
SPEAKER_00God gives you grace for your calling and not someone else's. Your grace for your story, not for someone else's story.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00It's so easy to watch reels or videos online or somebody's story, right? Highlights, and it's like, oh, you want to be like them. But they're grace for something unique.
SPEAKER_02Oh, Jesus.
SPEAKER_00And then you're comparing your life and you say, Well, my life has to suck. God's like, No, you just have a different grace that you're almost putting off because you're comparing it and you think that theirs is better.
SPEAKER_01That's why you end up exhausted.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, wow. There is such a key there.
SPEAKER_00When you try to run someone else's race, you step out of the grace that was meant to carry you. You are anointed for your own assignment. And I've I just felt this burden to help people understand this. It's like be grateful for what you have, understand what you have, and get passionate. And you are passionate for these things, but the enemy comparison and the enemy will try to take that away. But this is what you're passionate for. This is what God has placed in your heart, and God is giving you the ability to do this.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I believe that comparison is one of the fastest ways to step out of grace.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_00When you compare yourself and you switch lanes, you're exiting the lane of your grace.
SPEAKER_01Right. Because you enter into striving.
SPEAKER_00Yes, because now you're trying to be like somebody else, and they're operating in their own grace, which you don't have access to. So now you're striving, trying to replicate their grace, and it's not gonna work.
SPEAKER_01Wait, I'm about to speak in tongues. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00It ain't gonna work.
SPEAKER_01Oh, help us, Lord. That's so convicting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it comparison makes you despise your portion, it makes you chase someone else's platform.
SPEAKER_01Despise your portion? Absolutely. You're saying a lot right now, and my brain is like, yo.
SPEAKER_00I've been there, I've been there personally when I was younger.
SPEAKER_01Because I'm still younger portion is crazy. Wow.
SPEAKER_00But when I was younger, because I'm still younger, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I was getting involved in ministry. Man, I was doing my thing, and then I started seeing these big ministries, and I was like, you know what I want? Do it like them. And I started to preach like them, talk like them, and it didn't work. And I was like, God, what is this?
SPEAKER_01Mia with trying to sound like Christine Kane when I was like 18 personally saved out. If the light that is on you is brighter than the light that is in you, then the light that is on you will destroy you.
SPEAKER_00And you're saying that in your car, and it's like, okay, nobody's really here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I thought it was her, but like, no, that's her grace.
SPEAKER_00I was trying to imitate these people, but I couldn't imitate their anointing. Oh, so I was saying the same things, I was even trying to say it the same way, even the accent, and then my youth group would be looking at me like, uh okay. Yeah. And I was like, you know what? I just gotta be me. I just and literally God took me through a process where it's like it's better if you're just yourself. And it was like, no, but I'm not as good. No, just be yourself because I know that you're not that good. Yeah, this is why you need my grace. I'm not the best preacher, I can barely speak sometimes. Yeah, my brain is all over the place, but that's the beauty of his grace.
SPEAKER_01So, oh, this is so powerful. And it sounds harsh, but like it's freeing. Because why would we want to be less than anything God has called us to be? You know, like we're doing a disservice to the Lord by not allowing him to fully work in us and through us and be who he created us to be. He didn't create you to be somebody that you that is inspiring to you. Yes, they can inspire you and and influence you and and and you know, encourage you, but God wants to reveal you to you.
SPEAKER_00Yep. I think that's the problem with a lot of people is that they don't understand, they don't have a revelation of of themselves, of their calling, of their grace. Been there, or they had they had it, but they they shelved it, they put it aside because they're chasing something else.
SPEAKER_01Wow, yep, but it's hard.
SPEAKER_00Stay in your lane. Literally. I've been saying this all year, and now it's making sense because this is a huge struggle because of social media. It's so easy for our minds to wander off, and you know, we can slowly drift off the lane, you know. Thank God for our car, right? It tells me when I'm going off the lane, right? It beeps, and it's like, okay, I got it. It beeps and swerves, it's so scary. It puts me back in the lane, and God does that sometimes, but just like the car that you can override it, you could also do that in the spirit where God is trying to tell you, hey, you're not that person, and then you know, he'll lead you back with kindness and love. But then you just, and especially if you don't have a prayer life or you're not in the word, it's so easy to drift off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And now you're just going off this, you know, you're frustrated, you're burnt out, you're exhausted, you're confused, and then people develop this imposter syndrome thing.
SPEAKER_01Oh Lord Jesus, help us, God.
SPEAKER_00Like that sucks. I'm telling you, because I was there.
SPEAKER_01You don't even, we don't even know who. Yeah, that's so real. Honestly, you are preaching.
SPEAKER_00I'm preaching, I'm coming from.
SPEAKER_01Can you can we give the young adults some like practical ways to stay in their lane and what that looks like?
SPEAKER_00I think very practical. Yeah, it's so simple, but very neglected is you have to pray and you have to read your word. But on top of that, if God is ever giving you a word, if somebody's ever giving you a word that you trust, like a prophetic word, somebody that you trust, or you've written down your dreams and your visions, go back to those things, read them, pray them, and remind yourself this is who I am. Yeah, and your prayer time, when the father speaks to you, write that, write those things down. Everything that I am today originated in my prayer closet. I could always trace it back to something that the Lord showed me, that He placed in my heart, or that somebody spoke to me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And when the enemy is attacking your mind or you're having a rough day, go to those moments.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00Right?
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00It's like this is who I am. Because the more that the more you can walk in the confidence of your calling, is it the more you have the ability to walk in this grace?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's so good.
SPEAKER_00Because for you to stay in your lane, you have to understand who you are.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00You have to understand your purpose. Maybe you don't understand your purpose, right? But you understand, you know what? God is telling me to do these simple things. Maybe He wants you to start a Bible study or go on social media or read this book or talk to this friend. It can be little things like that that you feel the Lord leading you to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And just obey those things.
SPEAKER_02Amen.
SPEAKER_00And then that will lead you to walk in your grace and then for you to discover more about your purpose. So I think those are two practical things, right? Go back to those moments where God spoke to you, give you a word, give you a vision, or somebody did, but also doing the small things.
SPEAKER_01Right. Oh, that's so good. I would say mine is you can't borrow oil from leaders or preachers that you hear or people that inspire you or affirm what?
SPEAKER_00Ora farm.
SPEAKER_01Aura or affirm.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you can't aura farm the unlinking, remember? Yeah, those are power. But you can't. You can't borrow oil. They give the the tent virgins. Five had oil and their lamps were burning. Five wanted to borrow oil. Think about it. When those lamps were burning, they could see clearly. You can't see yourself clearly and who you are unless you're cultivating intimacy, unless you have oil that is burning. You know, this is so key for me. And it's what's helped me is that a microphone is not gonna bring the fire of God out of me. Jesus does that through the secret place. That's why you can. I I read this post the other day. Maybe it was even today, earlier I saw it. It said something like, you can have two people preach the same sermon and one carries weight and the other doesn't.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. That's like the parable of the ten virgins. Yes, that's the difference.
SPEAKER_01Yes, because one has cultivated oil, the other is trying to borrow it, and that's scary. We don't want to be in that place.
SPEAKER_00Like again, grace is activated when you're in your lane. And in your lane means to walk in your purpose, but be in relationship with Christ, right? And understand this is what I'm called to do, but to live do it through Him. Grace is tied to an assignment, not your ambition. And I wanted to say these five indicators that come to mind when it's like when you feel like you left your lane. Okay, it's everything feels heavy. That's one. You're comparing constantly. Yes, you feel behind. You're trying to prove something, or you're drained instead of strengthened. If you feel any of these things, maybe you drifted off your lane. Wow. Maybe you're like everything feels heavy because you're just so overwhelmed with life. And and and I get it, sometimes life is hard, right? We're going through so much. But could it be also that you drifted off your lane? You have not prayed as much, you're not in your word. You're striving. You're striving, you're losing memory of your own identity spiritually, because that happens. You go through life, you get hit hard, yeah, you know, chaos, heartbreaking, your relationships, whatever it is, right? You lose your job and you forget who you are in Christ. But you have to return back to that lane. And sometimes you know, you feel behind. Why? Because you're following somebody else. In your lane, this should in your lane. If you're literally in your lane, there's no car in front of you.
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_00But when you switch lanes, you're following another car. It's not your lane, somebody else is driving that. Ooh. So you're now you're trying to catch up to this person and do it better, which you can't. But when you stay in your lane, you're not chasing nobody. You're the one that's leading the way because this is your lane.
SPEAKER_01Bro, you're on one tonight.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna have to do a whole message on the other one.
SPEAKER_01You're on ten tonight. Ten toes down.
SPEAKER_00Tent toes down.
SPEAKER_01That's so that is I have never thought about it like that. Wow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't know. This whole lane thing is really hitting me.
SPEAKER_01Switching lanes. Yeah, it's well, you started off this conversation with I want to switch lanes. So there was a there was a grace on that already.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Room, room, skirt.
SPEAKER_01Did you get my joke?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I did.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00I laugh with those bad. So grace makes the right lane feel possible even when it's hard.
SPEAKER_01I think even when it's hard.
SPEAKER_00Even when it's hard. I think we gotta really chew this one up.
SPEAKER_01Hard doesn't equate that you're not in God's grace.
SPEAKER_00No. Grace makes it feel possible because you feel the favor, you feel the empowerment of God. Remember, grace is needed for God's dreams. So what this is a God assignment. This is why you need grace. Yeah. If this is something practical for you to go change the oil in your car, you don't necessarily need grace for that. You can just drive over there, right? Are you sure?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you might need grace if you're going up against people that are being mean, but I'm just saying, like, grace is is needed for for the empowerment of your calling. I guess that's what I'm trying to really create this angle. So when you stay in your lane, grace multiplies. When you honor your assignment, God increases your capacity. If you get focused on the small things that God has called you to do on a daily basis, God is gonna honor that and give you more and increase your grace.
SPEAKER_01That's so good. It reminds me of what Pastor Jonathan always says about like if you're not seeing God moving now, go back to the last place you heard him.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so good.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_00That's the whole key. When you stop comparing yourself, you start to become and you start to drift back into your own identity. And I'm I've been on for the last few days, I've just been thinking about assignments and callings, and I'm like, you know what? It's so simple. Every day, God is we we we have a clear direction, and if you don't know, it's as simple as praying and reading your word. Yeah, when you just do that, you're already starting off on the right path. Yeah, you know, you're really starting off in your lane. So I just want to encourage you guys with that. You know, ask yourself have I been striving instead of surrendering? Have I been switching lanes or drifting off? Because am I comparing myself to others? Yeah. Or has my prayer life been lacking and I need to really go in there? Or have I forgotten who I am and I need to revisit that last word? Revisit those dreams. I want to encourage you today. If you're hearing our voice, you are called and there is a grace for you, and God has equipped you for you to fulfill your purpose on earth, even if you don't know completely what you're called to do, you have an assignment in your day-to-day, and God will give you that. You know what it is. Whether it's texting somebody, having a Bible study again, going to church that day, or just going to work and being the light, having a smile. You know? But I just want to encourage you and let you know that the grace of God is over you, it is in you, and it wants to carry you even when you feel weak, even when you feel hopeless and helpless. This is what grace is for. Grace is like an escalator, it just takes you without effort.
SPEAKER_01Amen. Wow, that was so powerful. I think we should pray and close this out. So, Father, we love you. We thank you, Jesus, that we can have access to grace through your spirit. God, that you've enabled us, you have enabled us with your grace. Yes, and it is supernatural. It's not in our own strength, it's not by our own power, but it's by your spirit, Jesus. And so where where we feel weak, where we feel weary, where we feel we've been striving and comparing, and maybe even jealous, or just feeling discouraged, or, you know, wanting something that's out of your will and alignment. Father, would you just put us back on our lane, Jesus? Would you put us back on course, Lord God? And I just thank you that you do it gently because you love us, Jesus, because you you don't want us following after somebody else. You want us in our own lane so that we can see you rightly, Lord. And when we see you, we see our path clear, Jesus. And so, Father, I just pray, God, that you would even just give us fresh vision. God, that you would um, I'm I'm just seeing like this lane switch and I'm seeing the car, and I'm seeing where there's been, you know, debris on the windshield. I can see the Lord's hand just wiping it clean. So, Father, would you would you just wipe off the debris of the past, of the comparison of and even if if some young adults feel shame, would you just wipe that off and wipe us clean, Jesus? Father, set us free from striving, set us free from from desiring a platform or the stage or a mic or anything else other than your presence and your presence alone, Lord. Give us a taste of your goodness. You are so good and you are so gracious and you are so kind, and we worship you, we praise you, we love you, and we thank you for your Holy Spirit in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
SPEAKER_00Amen. Amen. So good. Thank you guys for listening. If this helped you, please leave uh a comment on Spotify or if you need any prayer, send us a prayer request. Send this to a friend. We thank you guys. We're so honored, and we hope you guys have a good day.
SPEAKER_01So honored. We'll talk to you next time. Bye. Bye.
